About Our Law Firm

Phillips & Thomas, LLC is a Kansas City area law firm which focuses its practice in the areas of bankruptcy and criminal law. Our mission is to represent our clients zealously and provide the highest level of legal services in these areas.  We serve clients across both Kansas and Missouri.

The law firm of Phillips & Thomas, LLC was formed in 2000 by the managing partners John Phillips and George Thomas.  All of our attorneys each have a minimum of 22 years of legal experience in practicing bankruptcy and criminal law in both Kansas and Missouri. There is no substitute for experience and proven results.

We are different from other firms in that we are able to specifically handle litigated matters of high complexity in both business and consumer bankruptcy law, as well as criminal defense and traffic law trial work.

It has been our privilege to represent, and achieve life-changing results for, thousands of clients in the Kansas City metro area, as well as across the states of Kansas and Missouri.

Our office is located in Leawood, Kansas, and we serve clients in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and all of the outlying counties of Kansas City, including, but not limited to, Johnson County, Jackson County, Wyandotte County, Platte County, Miami County, and Clay County.

We have represented clients throughout all of Kansas and Missouri, but most often in the greater metro Kansas City area including:  Overland Park, Kansas City, Prairie Village, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, Lee’s Summit, Harrisonville, Raytown, Independence, Platte City, Liberty, Shawnee, Mission, and over 100 other municipalities  in the area.

Our building is conveniently located in Prairie Village, Kansas and is very close to the state line. Parking is always available and is free.  Additionally, we have parking spots available within a few feet of the door to our office, making entering our office easy and convenient.  Also, the building is handicap ramp accessible for our disabled clients.  We schedule appointments at your convenience, and can be easily reached during and after working hours.

We are located at 5251 W 116th Place, Ste. 200, Leawood KS  66211.  We are in Park Place, which is very close to Town Center Plaza.

John Phillips has been representing clients in bankruptcy, criminal, and traffic cases since 1998.  In his free time, John enjoys movies, alternative music, hiking, cars, and is a big history buff.  Additionally, he is a huge Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan and he is always willing to talk about the Royals and Chiefs with his clients.

George Thomas graduated from MIT in 1990 and served for a number of years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps with deployed service worldwide, including Bosnia.  After leaving active duty, he attended law school at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.  He graduated in 1998 and began practicing law immediately, representing individuals and businesses in both Kansas and Missouri.  He has extensive experience representing bankruptcy clients, including bankruptcy litigation experience, as well as criminal trial experience at the municipal, state, and federal levels.  His hobbies and interests include travel, writing, and translation of classical literature.
